Serving our mission
Like most Goodwill stores, the boutique includes space for employment and training services. Goodwill/Easter Seals is a vendor for Hennepin County's Minnesota Family Investment Program. Employment counselors for this program provide services at Second Début. They hold employment classes and assist individuals in their job search activities.
Staff members meet with participants monthly to help move them towards employment with federal- and state-accountable activities, such as job seeking and readiness classes, job search activities, short-term training and help starting schooling, work or volunteer work that will ready them for employment.
Supporting our missionSecond Début revenues directly support Goodwill/Easter Seals' mission the same way the Goodwill stores do and with donations from the same source: Minnesotans who donate generously at our donation centers located at the 14 Goodwill stores in the Twin Cities, Rochester, St. Cloud and WIllmar, Minn. Specially trained staff hand select designer merchandise and art for Second Début. Items are generally higher-end fashions of the best quality and presented in the boutique environment for shoppers who appreciate buying second-hand but do not wish to "hunt" for the treasures themselves and are willing to pay for that convenience. Revenues directly support the education, workforce development and employment services for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment provided by Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota. In fact, our retail stores supply the majority of the agency's funding. Last year, we provided services to more than 12,000 Minnesotans. |
